Veranda where I enjoy my cuppa tea
Well, we are finally here. It is amazing, quiet and relaxing. Just getting over the jet lag, 17 hours of flying and 24 hours door to door...... Phew!! KLM were fab and we got upgraded the first leg so all was perfect in the life of Josie. Woke up early the first morning and could not wait for the sun to rise so that we could sit out on the veranda with a cuppa tea and a rusk. Breath in the mountain air, listen to the birds and check out the garden. Wow, how the trees have grown in a year and the bird life tripled now that they have a little cover. We saw a mouse bird and a weaver, lots of starlings a lilac breasted roller and flocks of Guinea Fowl, two hens with about 25 chicks. They were very protective and even gave a us a little mock charge in warning not to get too close. I have just seen a Red-eyed Dove (Streptopelia semitorquata) is a pigeon which is a widespread resident breeding bird in Africa south of the Sahara. It is a common, if not abundant, species in most habitats other than desert. there are also two resident Augar Buzzards (Buteo augur). We have two oranges on our little tree and the passion fruit (Granadilla Vine) is full of very large fruit but there are all green, sure hope they are ready before we go. We are going in Arusha town this afternoon so until the next post have a fab day.
